North London Is Burning

I love a good riot. I think they make more compelling television than normal news. If this feed is still working, you can watch the live happenings on Sky News.

So what happened? What has caused the people to strike back at the police and now the media? Well, a young man was killed by the police earlier today. The Sun provides some nice background information:

Suspected gangster Mark Duggan, 29, fired a handgun at an armed cop, whose life was saved when the bullet hit his radio.

The officer returned fire with his Heckler & Koch MP5 sub-machine gun - blasting dad-of-five Duggan twice in the face before slumping to the ground.

It started off as a peaceful protest:

"It wasn't like this before," said one woman standing close to one of the two burned-out police cars. "It started out as a peaceful demonstration. The police shot a guy here last week and they lied about what happened. They said he pulled a gun but he wouldn't have done that with armed police. They shot him so badly that his mother could not recognise him."

But has exploded into a full out riot. There's a double decker bus on fire. It's a quite unbelievable sight.

Hails of bottles and bricks were intermittently thrown at police from side streets as reinforcements arrived. Rioters also aimed fireworks at police. At one stage, four firework rockets were shot at a line of horses, prompting a charge and a nearby crowd to disperse in panic.

Needless to say, I'll be watching Sky News for the rest of the evening.

There's a plethora of talent that was untapped. The Primera is obviously dominated by Barca and Real. I snuck in some Valencia and Atlético players as well as Marco Senna from Villareal. There were some huge names i Left off. The Premiership has a Big Four bias, but both goalies I took are from non-Big Four sides. Probably the biggest missing player in this is Steven Gerrard, who I replaced with Aaron Lennon. I think Lennon gives something different to the club than Gerrard.

Aaron Lennon

Since I'm up and footy is being played, naturally I'm watching football. Even if it's Tottenham, I'm watching. The game is not even 20 minutes in, and I have to admit that Aaron Lennon is one of the best players in England right now. There are certainly players playing better football in England right now like Fàbregas, Drogba, Tevez, and Rooney. However, Lennon should be considered among these players.

His role in creating for Modric's goal was pivotal. I think the problem with Tottenham is that they don't have any other threats. I'm watching Modric, who is supposed to be their creative force and I see even him looking for Lennon. It seems like defenses will be able to key in on Lennon, preventing him from getting the ball and trying to contain him. I say "trying" because with his pace and skill, that he can create space and attacking opportunities out of nothing. He is turning into something special.

He is definitely securing a position in South Africa with his performances.
