I Don't Like Pepsi, But...

Give Us Guns, Give You Money

Chicago has had its gun buyback program:
The day-long Chicago gun buyback program today took more than 4,000 guns off the city's streets, police said.
Pretty successful. People want butter more than guns.

You Don't Go To Yost!

I'm sort of surprised so many people are going to the game. I mean I'm not surprised because it's the Big House, but it's not like all these people go to Yost. Anyway, there's a ticket freeze:
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Public ticket sales for "The Big Chill at the Big House" presented by Arby's have been stopped, the University of Michigan Athletics Department announced on Thursday (May 6). Demand for the outdoor hockey game between Michigan and Michigan State has generated sales of more than 100,000 tickets for the Dec. 11 showdown at Michigan Stadium. The remaining tickets are being held to meet the forthcoming student demand.
I love Michigan hockey. But I can't help but feel many of these people are going, to go to the Big House and not to support Michigan Hockey. This is about Michigan hockey.

This Just Doesn't Make Sense

More people looking for jobs, more people finding jobs? I don't know if this is good or bad.

Arret! Montreal Driving

It sucks. Arret signs everywhere. I hate city driving. You can't turn left either. It's retarded. Fucking socialists.

The Brits Are Hung

The British Parliament is hung right now, so in the next couple days, the nominees will postulate to find a solution to resolve the prime ministry and who will take residence at 10 Downing Street.

My personal thoughts: It's surreal seeing candidates speaking in the middle of the street. When I saw Gordon Brown speak, I immediately thought "I've been there before!" Very cool. Love London.

Let's toss this in there:

Political Correctness Fails Again

I hate that people are trying to be overly sensitive on certain issues. This is America. It's a country built on freedom, built on the ability to express oneself. You think the Founding Fathers would be impressed with what the country is becoming right now? We are becoming hypersensitive and incidents such as this are where this movement to be more politically correct is failing. Let it run Guru:
Galli says he and his friends were sitting at a table during brunch break when the vice principal asked two of the boys to remove American flag bandannas that they wearing on their heads and for the others to turn their American flag T-shirts inside out. When they refused, the boys were ordered to go to the principal's office.
Sometimes I just have trouble wrapping my head around events that happen. I cannot believe that this happened. I really can't. This is a colossal face palm. You're telling me kids couldn't wear patriotic clothing?

Now, may be I don't give a shit about this political correctness bullshit because I do understand the situation. I can see how people would think that it is offensive on a Mexican holiday, though the celebration of the holiday isn't even celebrated in all of Mexico. With recent immigration controversy, it could be seen as disrespectful. However, that's saying that patriotic clothing is disrespectful. That's saying the American flag is disrespectful. Does anyone see the problem here? This shit is news for a reason.

Here are some quotes from the kids:
"They said we could wear it on any other day," Daniel Galli said, "but today is sensitive to Mexican-Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today."
They're Mexican-Americans. This is America. You're telling me America cannot be celebrated? And their holiday? Their holiday? Not everyone celebrates their holiday, so I don't understand how this is disrespectful to their holiday. It's not like these kids were wearing swastikas on Rosh Hashanah. This is totally different.

More from the kids:
They said if we tried to go back to class with our shirts not taken off, they said it was defiance and we would get suspended," Dominic Maciel, Galli's friend, said.
Parent:
"I think it's absolutely ridiculous," Julie Fagerstrom, Maciel's mom, said. "All they were doing was displaying their patriotic nature. They're expressing their individuality."
Personally, I would sue the school for breach of the First Amendment. Although I'm sure the school would contend that the First Amendment doesn't apply on Cinco de Mayo.

Live Oak High School, you have failed.

Obama on Immigration

Obama took time from Cinco de Mayo celebrations (Fiestas) to comment on immigration, specifically the Arizona Immigration Law:
"But the answer isn't to undermine fundamental principles that define us as a nation," he said, taking an apparent shot at the controversial immigration bill signed into law in Arizona, which critics say will result in racial profiling. "We can't start singling out people because of who they look like or how they talk or how they dress."

Added the president: "We can't turn law-abiding American citizens or law abiding immigrants into subjects of suspicion and abuse."
Furthermore:
"That's why we have to close the door on this kind of misconceived action by meeting our obligations here in Washington," he said.

"Comprehensive reform is how we're gonna solve this problem," the president added. "Of course it's gonna be tough. That's the truth. Anybody who tells you it's gonna be easy or I can wave a magic wand and make it happen hasn't been paying attention to how this town works. We need bipartisan support. But it can be done. And it needs to be done."
The Los Suns comment is irrelevant to me. Clearly, the Arizona Law signals that there is a problem with immigration in the United States. At the same time, such a law that will have its say on immigration will be made to protect the citizens and legal immigrants of the United States. The Arizona Law does not do this. The system is broken. It needs to be fixed. It needs to be changed.

Didn't some president run on a platform of change?

The Oil Spill Is Getting Dome

The skinny:
PORT FOURCHON, La. — A 12-man crew was making final preparations Wednesday to take a 100-ton contraption 50 miles off the Louisiana coast in an unprecedented attempt to help funnel out oil spewing from the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico.

The giant-concrete-and-steel box is the best short-term solution to bottling up the disastrous oil spill that threatens sealife and livelihoods along the Gulf Coast.
What did you think I meant by dome?

We Have Confirmation!

Mourinho is God!

I found this picture on Twitter:

Like Mourinho, it is fantastic. The Xs basically cross out all his Italian rivals' trophy attempts. As you can see, only Roma can challenge Inter for any trophies.

Song of the Day: Ramblin' Man by The Allman Brothers Band

I wanted the better sound quality of the studio version, as opposed to the live for this song.

I Hate Bureaucracy

So I spent most of the mornings waiting in lines. I've ranted about waiting in lines, but what is the cause of all these lines? It's called bureaucracy.

Bureaucracy wastes so much time. We want to know why the productivity in this country has gone down, I attribute it greatly to bureaucracy. How the fuck is anyone supposed to get anything done when they have to wait in lines for...ever? This is the case in a lot of place, the registry of motor vehicles, the courts, even now the airports.

I don't think we should be made to wait for things. We have things to do. I'm not talking about me, I have nothing to do, but other people have shit to do. How are people supposed to make ends meet when they can't put in their hours because they're stuck in line?

I was at the RMV today. It was the worst. It wasn't just the lines that killed me, it was the people who were there. The place smelled like stale urine. It was disgusting. I know Massachusetts recently had a water ban, but that doesn't excuse people from taking showers. The place fucking wreaked.

Additionally, I didn't feel comfortable there. There were too many immigrants, too many poor people, too many obese people. We need to segregate our RMVs. I did not feel safe in the RMV. It had nothing to do with race, there were people of all races there. It was just the culmination of all the factors. I'm a minority, but I don't feel like a minority most of the time I'm in public. When I was in the RMV, I felt like a minority. That's not right.

This is America: where no one should feel like a minority.

Mourinho Reaches for the Stars

Here are some gems from the Portuguese hero:
"Only thieves should be ashamed and we've got to this point playing two finals (also the Champions League) and for the title not because we were born in a golden cradle but thanks to our hard work," fumed Mourinho.

"We don't deserve respect, we demand it. That lady (Sensi) can be a president, a doctor or born in a golden cradle but she has to respect us."
Continued about the final being in Roma:
"Two years ago Roma took the title to the wire against Inter, last year wasn't so good but I've always recognised the potential in their team," he said.

"And with a squad like theirs they could not continue the way they started the season, it seemed logical to me that they would finish in the top four.

"Now they have the good fortune to be playing the Cup final at home, something which happens nowhere else in the world.

"I don't know any other cup competitions where one team plays the final at home. It would be different if we were playing in Naples, Florence or Bologna."
About winning:
"No trophies would not be a drama if you fight to the end in all competitions.

"It's something else if you finish fifth, 30 points back from the champions. "If we win all three it will be historic, if we win one or two it will be positive but there would be no shame in winning none.

"We're playing every three days while others are already on holiday and the ironic thing about destiny is that Italian football wants us to lift the Champions League so we can keep a fourth team in the competition."
Lastly, May 5:
"The only thing that May 5 means to me is that it's the day Napoleon died. I wasn't born an Inter fan and I haven't followed their history, for me that's all May 5 is."
The man is clearly a legend. I look forward to the Coppa final tomorrow.

Need A Whore

To play a pornstar? Call Lindsay Lohan:
"The idea has been kicked around for months," a producer on "Inferno," Wali Razaqi, told MTV News when approached for comment. "The director [Matthew Wilder] told me it would be a very good role for her. So we're hoping to have her."

Contacted separately, "Inferno" producer Chris Hanley said that Lohan's participation has been locked in. "That is confirmed," he said. The producers are making plans to attend the Cannes Film Festival to seek financing, and had planned to officially announce Lohan at that time.
It should be easy for Lindsay to play someone who is like her...a whore.

We Got Water

I am so glad that my town has returned back to modernity. It's sad how quickly places within this country can be relegated to a third world level. Water is such an important resource. We must to do more to improve our existing and aging infrastructure.

Greek Debt Bailout

Europe bailed out Greece, but it did not have its intended effect:
Euro-zone governments and the International Monetary Fund hoped that a €110 billion ($145.14 billion) rescue package for Greece would soothe investors' nerves over high sovereign-debt levels in Spain, Italy, Portugal and Ireland. Instead, it had the opposite effect, with fears of contagion rising throughout the day.

"The new stage of the crisis is cross-market contamination," says Claire Dissaux, head of global economics and strategy at Millennium Global Investments in London.

Investors are concerned that the three-year financial package won't fix Greece's longer-term funding problems. Investors are edgy about far-larger economies such as Spain and Italy.
There is a dark non-volcano related cloud over Europe right now.

Guilty: Mumbai Gunmen

I wonder if a diplomatic crisis will occur if the death penalty is given.

Shoelace Starter?

We could be seeing Shoelace starting for Michigan:
Rodriguez has yet to name a leader, saying only that Robinson "probably had a few better practices than Tate has." (Forcier suffered a slight ankle sprain during the final week.) But with the embattled coach under pressure to make a splash ASAP, here's guessing Robinson will be the starter when the Wolverines host Connecticut on Sept. 3.
I would love to see it, not that I hate Tate.

This time at Kalamazoo Central. I just hope it's better than the one he delivered at Michigan. It'll probably be a dumbed down version of the same speech.

There's No Water In Massachusetts

Apparently, there's no water in Massachusetts. A pipe ruptured and the water supply is cut off for more than 2 million people. Deval Patrick:
"The extent of the damage is not as great as we feared,'' he said at a press conference overlooking a crater in Weston, where workers in hard hats were welding the pipe back together.
Yeah, but my house still doesn't get water. How is this still possible in this day and age? How do we not have an extensive back up plan? Why am I going home if there's no water. This is unacceptable.
